The GA Driedaagse Brugge-De Panne closes the classic season of the UCI WorldTour 2020 on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mathieu van der Poel is the headliner of the participants in the men’s category, who run on Wednesday. The day before, Tuesday, the ladies will be at work with the winner of the Ronde Chantal Blaak and perhaps a new D’Hoore-Kopecky duel.
Many riders, including Tour of Flanders winner Mathieu van der Poel, will race their last race of an exceptional cycling season on Wednesday. “I secretly hope to see a real fan race with a lot of action,” Mathieu has already said. Which would undoubtedly also do the business of other top classics like Naesen, Lampaert, Stuyven, Sénéchal, Bettiol, Degenkolb, Pedersen and Trentin. The swift Caleb Ewan, Tim Merlier and Alexander Kristoff, who once again proved his current good legs at Le Ronde, will undoubtedly bet on a sprint finish.
BELGIAN DUEL IN SPRINT AT THE LADIES?
Among the ladies, on Tuesday, we could see a new duel between the two best Belgian riders: Jolien D’Hoore and Lotte Kopecky, third in the Tour of Flanders. The entire Ronde podium is lined up at the start as the winner Chantal Blaak and the second, Amy Pieters, also compete in the GA Driedaagse Brugge-De Panne. If we add the Wild, Wiebes, Van Dijk and the Italians Longo Borghini and Bastianelli, we get all the ingredients for a great race.
