At Valentino they have chosen October 10 (which in numbers is 10/10) as the date to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Valentino Garavani Rockstud accessories. Obviously it is no coincidence since the project with which they intend to do it is called Valentino Garavani Rockstud X where the X is to be read as ten, in Roman numerals. Not only that, however, because it also symbolizes a collective signature: that of the artists, designers and brands that will be involved in this open creative laboratory to reinterpret the “Stud”, the stud, which characterizes and makes these accessories immediately recognizable.
The first to work alongside Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative director of Valentino, in this re-signification work is the 34-year-old British Craig Green, already winner of the 2018 Fashion Awards as British designer of the year for men’s collections and among those chosen by Moncler for the Moncler Genius project in the FW18 and SS19 seasons.
The open lab designed by Valentino fits perfectly into Piccioli’s reinterpretation of the codes of the maison who was obviously the first to try his hand at the “Stud” and in particular with the Valentino Garavani Roman Stud, brought in macro format for underline a more punk and rebellious attitude. All that remains is to wait to find out how many and what other forms the stud can still take and then be applied to bags and shoes that will make the history of the maison.
