It’s probably the GTI we’ve all been waiting for.

We are not done with the new Golf. After the revelation of the standard and sporty versions of the GTI, GTD and GTE, the manufacturer from Wolfsburg reveals another version, even sportier and even more aggressive: the Golf GTI Clubsport.

It won’t be there Golf 8 the nastiest you can drive, but whatever, we’re not going to shy away from our fun. As you can imagine, this Clubsport is a very clear improvement of the GTI, starting with the styling which has been sublimated.

The changes made by Volkswagen are not just aesthetic. In addition to the improvements listed just above, the Clubsport has been lowered by 15mm compared to the GTI. There is a McPherson suspension at the front and four-link at the rear. The wheel camber has been increased at the front for better behavior in the corners. The chassis has been completely revised as explained by Benjamin Leuchter, a racing driver who was fully involved in the development of the Clubsport.

“The car has its own character. Compared to the previous Clubsport, it is possible to enter a curve at a significantly higher speed thanks to a significantly increased camber on the front axle, the networking of the differential with the Vehicle Dynamics Manager and chassis tuning. “

The braking system has also been improved, as has the power of the 2.0 TSI engine, which goes from 245 to 300 hp! This is an increase of 55 hp, which is enough to send the Clubsport from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 6 seconds and reach a top speed limited to 250 km / h. The Clubsport marks the arrival of a “Special” mode which joins the traditional Eco, Normal, Sport and Individual modes. Furthermore ESP can switch to Sport mode to turn it off completely.

For Volkswagen, one of the major innovations is the “Vehicle Dynamics Manager”. This system controls both the adaptive DCC suspension and the differential electromechanical VAQ to optimize the behavior of the sports car according to the driving conditions.
