Last minute … The voting process for the second round of the presidential election in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has ended.
The voting process, which started at 08:00, was completed at 18:00 and the counting of votes began.
In the second round of the presidential election in the TRNC, Ersin Tatar, the presidential candidate of the Prime Minister and the National Unity Party (UBP), and the President and independent presidential candidate Mustafa Akıncı competed.
In the first round of the election held on October 11, Tatar took the first place with 32.34 percent of the vote, and Akıncı finished second with 29.80 percent.
In the TRNC, news, predictions and comments on the elections and their results in radio, televisions and all kinds of broadcast organs will be free from 19:00 when the broadcast ban will end.
The YSK is expected to announce the uncertain results of the election and popular vote by 20:00.
In the statement made by the YSK, it was stated that as of 17:00, the rate of participation in the election throughout the country was 61.03 percent.
Citizens cast their votes in 738 ballot boxes in the election where 199 thousand 29 registered voters were located.
The Turkish Cypriot people went to the ballot box to elect their president for the 10th time since 1974.
While 77% of the ballot boxes were opened in the TRNC presidential election, Prime Minister Tatar received 51.49% of the vote and President Akıncı received 48.51.
