The Parliamentary Group Vox has claimed the Ministry of Interior that the national police receive training in “self defense” in the face of new forms of crime, questioning public investment in this type of permanent training. They also request more resources and legislative changes to fight against the “violent wave” related to drug trafficking in Campo de Gibraltar.

In a non-law proposal, the party led by Santiago Abascal gives an example of the case of Fuengirola, in Málaga, where for 300 members of the State Security Forces and Bodies the last offer of Police Personal Defense courses was made in 2018, offering “the symbolic figure of 18 seats for the entire Andalusian province “.

Vox refers to the provisions of different laws regulating the training of police officers to conclude that this matter is “very far away” of the needs of the staff, which relates to the “insufficient investment by the Ministry of the Interior.”

Specifically, the party calls for a “up-to-date and adequate” training to the current needs of the police, who are the depositories in the rule of law for the use of force with proportionality in a framework of legal certainty. They also ask, in this sense, the convening of courses in all autonomous communities and the promotion of agreements with schools of personal defense.

In another non-law proposal also registered for debate in the Interior Committee, Vox calls for an increase in the media in the fight against drug trafficking in the Campo de Gibraltar, with the permanent deployment of specialized units such as GEO, GOES, GRS and GAR “from units with much less workload”, citing A coruña The Zaragoza.

Vox requests for these policemen the collection of economic complements, as well as the “immediate presence” in the Campo de Gibraltar under the command of Europol and Interpol, which they understand would demonstrate the “involvement of Europe not only in material means but also in strategies and leadership in the fight against drug trafficking.”

Faced with the latest episodes of drug trafficking cars rammed into police patrols, this party demands a legislative reform so that “escape from the police presence is an autonomous crime”, the text says verbatim, “configured as a abstract danger crime without the concrete danger of the life of any agent being necessary “.
