With each passing year, social networks become a more important tool for politicians, whether in attempts to promote themselves or as a way of approaching the public. More than that, the media has also become a fertile battleground for those who like to discuss politics.
With that in mind, a survey conducted in the United States sought to reveal who uses Twitter the most: supporters of Donald Trump or Joe Biden. According to the study, only 10% of adult North American Twitter users produce 92% of all posts. Among them, although supporters of the right tend to have a reputation for using social media more, the survey showed that 69% of adults are Democrats.
The survey also pointed out that there are big differences in the way a pro-Trump and a pro-Biden individual turn to social media, in addition to the frequency of posts. For example, the poll showed that 10% of the most active Democrats produce almost twice as many tweets as the 10% Republicans.
In addition, the accounts followed vary according to the user’s political inclination. In this way, former President Barack Obama is followed by 42% of Democrats and 12% of Republicans, while current Head of State Donald Trump is followed by 33% of Republicans and only 13% of Democrats.
