The Micra range has just been cut, and now the X-Trail follows: From now on, the X-Trail is only available with the 1.3-liter turbo gasoline engine, the diesel versions are no longer available. The number of equipment was also reduced. With the X-Trail, the reason is likely the new generation of the X-Trail which is expected in 2021.

There is still the 4.69 meter long Mid-size SUV on request with a third row of seats (surcharge: 390 euros, for Tekna). As mentioned, the DIG-T turbo gasoline engine is now always responsible for propulsion, which now generates 158 instead of 160 hp from its 1.3 liter displacement. Instead of Euro 6d-Temp, it now complies with the stricter Euro 6d-ISC-FCM emissions standard. The power transmission is still handled by a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

The 150 hp diesel, which was available in four versions (with front or all-wheel drive, both with manual transmission or DCT), is no longer available. This means that the X-Trail is now apparently only available with front-wheel drive.

In addition, the number of equipment is reduced from five to four. Strangely enough, Nissan has not yet revealed what these will be. In any case, the basic version is still called Visia, and like the Micra, the new version N-Design is added. So far the versions Visia, Acenta, N-Way, N-Connecta and Tekna have been offered.

Equipment Visia offers 17-inch alloy wheels, electric windows, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, air conditioning, DAB radio and cruise control. The modular storage system Flexi-Board creates order in the trunk. An anti-collision system, lane keeping assistant and traffic sign recognition ensure safety.

In the higher levels, a navigation system, seat and steering wheel heating, leather seats, all-round vision system, LED headlights, a glass roof, an electrically opening tailgate and other assistance systems are added.

The new equipment N-Design (from 35,161 euros) sets optical accents that can be seen in our picture: The grill is darker; Mirror caps and roof rails are black, as are the 18-inch aluminum rims. There are also illuminated door sills with the model name.

More about the new X-Trail and mid-range SUVs in general:

In future, prices will start at 27,816 euros. This reduces the entry price by 800 euros, as Nissan correctly says. However, this is a comparison of apples and pears, because the previous basic version was the X-Trail with diesel in the Visia equipment. The gasoline engine was available from just under 32,000 euros, but then with the upscale Acenta equipment.
