“He got his last wish”

With films like “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, “The Name of the Rose” or “The Incorruptible” went Sir Sean Connery into film history. His greatest role, however, is that of “James Bond”. At the weekend we received some sad news: The acting legend passed away at the age of 90. The broadcaster “BBC” reported, citing Connery’s family. Jason Connery, the film legend’s son, said his father died in Nassau, Bahamas, in the presence of his family. He fell asleep peacefully that night. “We’re all working to understand what happened, even though my father’s been bad for a long time,” said Jason. “A sad day for everyone who knew and loved my father, and a sad loss for everyone around the world who enjoyed his wonderful talent as an actor.”

The Hollywood star leaves behind his wife Micheline Roquebrune (91) three stepchildren and his son Jason Connery (57) from the first Marriage to the Australian actress Diane Cilento († 78). The actor who died in 2000 from Queen Elizabeth (94) was knighted, lived temporarily in Scotland, Spain and the Bahamas.

Sean Connery suffered from dementia for the last few years of his life. His widow Micheline told the British newspaper “Mail on Sunday” after his death: “There was no life for him.” The illness cost him a lot of strength, he could hardly express himself, they say. “He got his last wish to simply slip away without causing a stir,” said the widow. “At least he died in his sleep. It was so peaceful.” She was by his side the whole time, she said.

Sean Connery war “Sexiest Man of the Century” mit 69

Sean Connery won an Oscar and a Golden Globe Award in 1987 for his role in “The Untouchables”. In addition to many other prizes, he was awarded the British Film Academy Award (BAFTA) in 1998. The US magazine “People” voted him the “Sexiest Man Alive” in 1989 and ten years later the “Sexiest Man of the Century” – at the age of 69! That the handsome actor was given this honor is no surprise on closer inspection of his résumé.

After leaving the army due to illness, he passed the time with odd jobs before he celebrated his first successes as a bodybuilder. Also as a nude model of the “Edinburgh College of Art” it was in great demand in the 1940s and 1950s. However, his good looks did not prevent the actor from becoming a real character actor. Today the whole world mourns him. What remains are his films, which will never be forgotten.

In the video below, a psychologist offers advice on how to support those who grieve.
