President Jair Bolsonaro made a series of indirect criticisms of the governor of São Paulo, João Doria (PSDB), in a live broadcast on the night of this Thursday (24.20.2020).
“I want a well-armed citizen. The armed people put an end to this joke of ‘everyone is going to stay at home and I’m going to go to Miami’. For God’s sake, it’s tight panties! This is not a man thing, hey ”, stated.

“São Paulo closes and goes for a walk in Miami… What business is that? It’s something for those who have tight panties. This is a crime, hey. The people have to be armed because the weapon is the guarantee of their freedom ”, said Bolsonaro.
The statement was made in reference to the trip from Doria to Miami in the United States, shortly after determining stricter restrictions to contain the advance of covid-19 in São Paulo.
The governor, however, returned a few hours after disembarking abroad. He apologized for traveling and said he returned because the vice governor, Rodrigo Garcia (DEM), was diagnosed with covid-19.
The president also commented on CoronaVac, a vaccine against covid-19 developed by Chinese Sinovac. The pharmaceutical company has a partnership in Brazil with the government of São Paulo. “The effectiveness of that vaccine in São Paulo seems to be down there, right?“, said.
On Wednesday (23.de), the state government informed that the immunizing agent reached the minimum level of 50% effectiveness in order to request emergency use from Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency). Doria’s management, however, gave no further details.
In late October, the Ministry of Health even announced that would buy 46 million doses of CoronaVac. The protocol of intentions that establishes the conditions for the purchase was signed by Minister Eduardo Pazuello. A day later, Bolsonaro said who canceled the deal. Now, the federal government has returned to considering the Chinese immunizer and including it in the vaccination plan.
