People suffering from hypertension (high blood pressure) can benefit enormously from consuming particular foods and drinks. Researchers from the British universities of Reading and Cambridge speak specifically of tea, cocoa, apples and berries, all very rich in flavonoids, substances that help reduce the risk of developing hypertension.
A long line of health problems are associated with this condition, such as coronary heart disease and kidney disease, problems that can become serious if neglected.
The British team analyzed data from 25,000 individuals in the UK in relation to their eating habits and their blood pressure.

‘We are delighted to see that, with our study, a relevant and significant association has arisen between the consumption of flavonoids and a drop in blood pressure,’ said Professor Gunter Kuhnle, leader of the study.
Now the research team is engaged in further research to demonstrate that the intake of these precious natural substances can also positively contribute to a reduction of cardiovascular problems which, in turn, cause strokes and heart attacks.
