Crossover bike for India - Yamaha FZ-X

Yamaha has registered the FZ-X model name in India. The Japanese could bring a crossover bike based on the FZ models.

Yamaha in combination with FZX – the older of us immediately think of the FZX 750, which, as the little sister of the Vmax, supplemented the local range of the Japanese in the late 80s and early 90s. This was fired by the five-valve inline four-cylinder from the FZ 750.

Now Yamaha has again had the type code FZ-X protected in India – this time with a hyphen. We do not expect a new edition of the 750 power bike. Rather, Yamaha is likely to tinker with crossover versions of the FZ models popular in India and other Asian markets with 150 and 250 cm³ air-cooled single cylinders. The four-wing single produce between 12 and 20 hp.

Updates towards Enduro

The FZ models are currently optically emulating the MT series, but are much simpler. Yamaha delivers diversity through different color and equipment versions.

To justify the X in the name, Insider expect wire wheels, longer spring travel and new mudguards and trim parts. The FZ-X models could then compete against competitors such as the BMW GS 310, the KTM 390 Adventure or the Kawasaki Versys X-300.
