Like most sports vehicles from the Volkswagen group, the Formentor also passes into the hands of the preparer from Kempten.

ABT Sportsline and the Volkswagen group, it’s a long love story. Usually, it is rather the Audi, sporting or not, which are the subject of a preparation within the workshops of the German preparer. But in recent years, practically all the brands of the group have gone there, from Volkswagen to Seat, not to mention Cupra now, which is now a brand in its own right.

And it is precisely a Cupra in question today, namely the Formentor, which has had the right to a small engine preparation and new aesthetic attributes. The set remains relatively discreet, and this is perhaps good news, knowing that the base model is not really discreet, especially with its matte color and its multiple appendages of copper color.

On the engine side, ABT made some modifications to the 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder. Basically, this engine develops 310 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. Thanks to this preparation, he now comes out 370 horsepower and 450 Nm de couple. Once is not custom, ABT also reveals the gain in terms of performance, the 0 to 100 km / h initially shot in 4.9 seconds now goes to 4.6 seconds. ABT specifies that this model is even able “to compete with the new Porsche Boxster GTS 4.0 in manual gearbox”.

Besides the engine, ABT also added a new ABT exhaust system with 102 millimeter diameter stainless steel end caps. 19- or 20-inch rims are also available, while the suspensions have been lowered by 35 millimeters.

For those who still find this preparation a little too “fair”, Cupra is working on a faster model with 400 horsepower under the hood thanks to the five-cylinder 2.5-liter Audi Sport that powers the RS 3 and other RS Q3s. ABT will surely be happy to work around this future model once it is officially unveiled.
