Storm Hortense arrives in the South West and will disrupt the weather all weekend. The Landes (40) and the Pyrénées-Atlantiques (64) are still placed on orange vigilance for strong winds on Friday, while the alert was lifted on the Gironde. Corsica was also placed on orange vigilance at 6 a.m. this Friday. Haute-Corse for strong winds and thunderstorms, and Corse-du-Sud for thunderstorms, strong winds and risk of wave-submersion.

The weather will remain very disturbed during the day in France, the rainy passages, often accompanied by sustained wind, will continue to follow one another. On the eastern flank, the rains will move away beyond the borders in the morning, while from Charentes to Aquitaine a new very dynamic disturbance will occur this end of the night, linked to the Hortense depression.

It will be accompanied by moderate rains and especially a very strong westerly wind, up to 120 to 130 km / h on the Aquitaine coast, 100 km / h inland in the departments in orange vigilance, a little less on neighboring departments in yellow vigilance.

Wind and lots of rain in Corsica

This overcast weather with sometimes marked rains will quickly reach the Center and Occitanie then Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in the afternoon, with a slightly less strong wind but remaining sustained. The rain-snow limit, from 1,500 to 1,800 m in the morning, will drop to around 1,000 to 1,200 m in the Pyrenees and the Massif Central, 1,200 to 1,400 m in the Northern Alps, where a good layer of fresh snow will be expected. in the evening.

It will rain more heavily in Corsica, with a few thunderstorms and a very strong southwesterly wind. Around the Gulf of Lion, the Tramontana will also blow around 100 km / h in gusts, it will not prevent a good rainy passage around midday.

Calmer weather in the northwest

On the other hand from Brittany and Pays de Loire to the Belgian border, the sun will be back in a calmer and a little cooler atmosphere, except for a few coastal showers in the afternoon.

Minimum temperatures will range from 1 to 6 degrees in the north and on the Massif Central, 5 to 10 in the south. Highs will range from 7 to 11 degrees in general, 10 to 14 degrees in the Southwest, 12 to 17 near the Mediterranean and in Corsica.
