In any case, we are currently making the best of the crisis and are using the time to find a few new ones Recipes to try out. And bread is at the top of the list.
Whether with cheese in the morning, as a sweet dessert or with soup in the evening: bread always goes well.
But which type of bread has what it takes to overtake banana bread? We have a few suggestions! In any case, these three bread recipes will shorten our winter lockdown:
1. Winter recipe: Parmesan bread with rosemary & garlic
If we can’t really escape, then at least from a culinary point of view. So how about a little time travel back to your last vacation in Italy?
Parmesan bread is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Served with a little herb butter, it immediately transports you mentally and tastefully to Bella Italia.
400 g of flour
2 tsp dry yeast
2 tbsp dried & chopped rosemary
1-2 cloves of garlic, grated
2 teaspoons of salt
1 Dose Bier
1 tbsp + 40 ml extra virgin olive oil
1/3 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
4 tablespoons of salted butter, melted
1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
2 tbsp freshly cut chives
2 tbsp freshly cut oregano
1 Prise Pfeffer
- Mix the flour, yeast, rosemary, garlic, and salt in a medium bowl. Add the beer and a tablespoon of olive oil and mix well with a wooden spoon. Cover the bowl and let the mixture sit at room temperature for one to two hours until it has doubled in size.
- Place the pizza stone or a heavy pan in the oven and preheat to 200 degrees. Let the pan or pizza stone warm up for about 30 minutes.
- Place the dough on a floured work surface and divide into two equal pieces. Now place each ball of dough on a large piece of lightly floured baking paper and roll out into a circle. Drizzle lightly with olive oil. Carefully remove the stone or pan from the oven and place the dough with the baking paper in the middle. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes – or until the bread is golden.
- In the meantime you can prepare the herb butter. To do this, melt the remaining olive oil and butter together until they are warmed up. Take off the stove. Stir in the basil, chives, oregano and pepper.
- Take the bread out of the oven and immediately sprinkle with half of the parmesan. Repeat all steps with the rest of the batter.
- Spread the herb butter over the warm bread. The bread can be kept for around three to four days.

2. Winter-Rezept: Boston Brown Bread
Sweet or savory? This bread can do both. The recipe traditionally comes from New England, the area in the north-east of the USA, which was the origin of the English colonization of North America. The original is eaten with baked beans for breakfast.
But we also love it sweet – for this, simply mix some raw cocoa into the dough.
Butter for greasing the baking pan
70 g Maismehl
70 g rye flour
70 g whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons of maple syrup
1/3 cup dark molasses
250 ml whole milk (or plant-based milk alternative)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional: 1/2 cup of raisins or other dried fruit
3 tbsp cocoa powder for baking
- Traditionally, an old coffee can was used for baking – but a loaf pan does too. Grease the form with butter and preheat the oven. Mix corn, rye and whole grain flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and optionally the cocoa powder.
- Add the maple syrup, molasses, milk and the vanilla extract to the batter and whisk or stir until a thick batter is formed. Optionally, add the raisins or other dried fruits to the batter and fold in.
- Put the dough in the prepared baking dish. Cover with foil so that the steam does not escape and the bread stays moist. Bake at 200 degrees for 45-50 minutes – or until no more dough sticks to the toothpick when you prick the bread in the middle. Then let it cool for about ten minutes before removing the bread from the pan. Cut into ten pieces and serve in the chocolate version with butter or traditionally with baked beans.

3. Winter recipe: honey bread
A hot cup of milk with honey – after a winter walk there is hardly anything better. How would this feeling taste like bread? Kind of like this honey bread.
The recipe contains whole wheat flour. This makes the bread a pretty healthy start to a cold winter day.
170 g whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon grated orange peel (approx. 1 organic orange)
½ TL Natron
½ teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of sea salt
150 g Greek yogurt
3 tbsp honey
- Preheat the oven and grease the baking pan.
- Whisk the flour, baking powder, orange peel, baking soda, cinnamon and salt together. Combine the remaining ingredients in a separate bowl. Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and mix. Put in a baking pan and bake for about 40 minutes (do the toothpick test again).
- Let cool for ten minutes, then remove from the baking pan and let cool completely.
