KIEV, Jan 25 (Reuters) – Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy has raised the country’s grain exports forecast for the 2020/21 season to 45.42 million tonnes from the previous projection of 44.18 million tonnes, thanks higher shipments of corn, the local merchants union said Monday.
The portfolio revised up the 2020 corn crop to 30.3 million tonnes from 29.3 million tonnes and increased the 2020/21 corn export projection to 23.5 million tonnes from 22.3 million.
Ukraine harvested a record 75 million tons of grain in 2019, including 35.9 million tons of corn.
Ukraine’s grain exports have fallen to 28.3 million tons so far this season, which runs from July 2020 to June 2021, including 11 million tons of corn.
Ukraine, one of the world’s leading grain exporters, sold some 57 million tonnes of grain abroad in the 2019/20 season.
