In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, 1131 new coronavirus infections were reported to the FOPH within 24 hours on Tuesday. At the same time, the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) registered 14 new deaths and 43 hospital admissions.
The positivity rate for the past two weeks was 4.8 percent for the PCR tests and 4.2 percent for the rapid antigen tests. In the same period, 162.19 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus infections were reported per 100,000 inhabitants.
The reproduction number R, which indicates the average number of people infected by an infected person, was 0.92 on February 12.
In total, the BAG registered 8366 confirmed infections with a mutated coronavirus variant. Of these, 3,122 were the British version, 132 to the South African and six to the Brazilian. 5106 cases could not be clearly assigned to any variant.
By Sunday evening, 866,425 vaccine doses had been delivered to the cantons and Liechtenstein. Of these, 675,556 doses have already been administered. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,939,727 tests for Sars-CoV-2, the causative agent of the respiratory disease Covid-19, have been carried out in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, as the BAG further announced. There were a total of 551,355 laboratory-confirmed cases of infection with the coronavirus.
So far, 23,267 people have had to be treated in hospital for a Covid 19 disease. The number of deaths in connection with Covid-19 disease was 9,240. According to the BAG, 11,022 people were in isolation and 18,588 people were in quarantine due to contact tracing. In addition, 2,899 people who had returned from a risk country were in quarantine.
