A cuddly toy bought second-hand for daughter turns out to be a drug stash

Parents from the US state of Arizona wanted to please their daughter and bought a cuddly toy in the form of a green worm in a second-hand shop, the head of which lights up when you press the stomach. At home, the couple wanted to clean the new toy thoroughly before the child was surprised. The two noticed that the worm’s belly felt strange. When they opened it, they could hardly believe their eyes, as reported by “nbcnews.com”.

Soft toy hid 5,000 drug tablets

Instead of the usual filling material, the cuddly toy contained a plastic bag – which was bulging with tablets! Apparently the children’s toy was used as a drug stash. The parents immediately called the police. They seized the tablets and confirmed the couple’s terrible suspicions: They were 5,000 tablets of the narcotic fentanyl. This requires a prescription, is 100 times stronger than morphine and is addictive.

On Facebook the police shared the case and warned: “Please always remember to inspect all items opened and used – for the safety of your family.” The parents were praised for their approach: “Well done,” says the police statement. It’s hard to imagine what could have happened if the parents hadn’t discovered the drugs and the daughter had played with the cuddly toy.
