Madrid, Feb 1 (EFE) .- Pharmacies and dental clinics in the Community of Madrid will be able to do rapid antigen tests starting this Monday to locate people without symptoms of the coronavirus in high-transmission settings, free tests that are not available anywhere. case will be at free demand by citizens.
The Community of Madrid spent almost three months waiting for a response from the Ministry of Health in order to activate this initiative, framed in the strategy of the Ministry of Health for the early detection of Covid-19.
After obtaining the go-ahead, the president of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, signed two collaboration agreements with the Official College of Pharmacists of Madrid (COFM) and the Official College of Dentists and Stomatologists of the 1st Region (COEM) for the free performance of these antigen tests.
The residents of basic health areas with a high incidence of coronavirus derived by the General Directorate of Public Health may go to pharmacies and dental clinics, as long as they do not present symptoms.
In the Community of Madrid 8,686 dentists provide service in approximately 3,500 dental clinics and the pharmacy network has about 2,900 offices.
The Deputy Minister of Public Health, Antonio Zapatero, reported last Friday that pharmacists and dentists will adhere to this initiative progressively and added that at the moment there were dozens of establishments prepared.
Sources from the Official College of Pharmacists of Madrid have indicated to Efe that in their case there are already more than fifty establishments prepared to take the tests.
