Palace under pressure after Oprah interview: Crisis talks are ongoing

The British royal family is said to be paralyzed with “horror and dismay” after the Oprah interview. According to media reports Queen Elizabeth II (94) is said to have so far refused to sign a statement that should apparently serve as a response to the allegations of Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39).

Royal experts expect Buckingham Palace to prepare a statement emphasizing the royal family’s love for Meghan and Harry to avoid tensions from increasing. According to “The Times”, the Queen does not want to rush to publish the statement.

Crisis talks in the palace

According to the “Daily Mail”, the Queen, Prince Charles (72) and Prince William (38) have withdrawn to crisis talks to clarify how they should react to a series of allegations that Harry and Meghan made in the two-hour TV interview Oprah Winfrey, 67. Palace insiders told the report that the royals were shocked and saddened that Prince Harry was doing this to his own family.

The Duchess and the Duke of Sussex had, among other things, raised racism allegations against an unnamed member of the royal family in the interview. Meghan said, “There was talk about how dark our baby’s skin would get.” Racism was also one of the reasons why they left the UK, said the couple, who have lived in the US for a year. Another serious allegation: The palace refused to give help to Meghan when she was feeling very bad mentally.
