Porsche invests another 83 MDD in Rimac. The Croatian will still be independent and denies taking control of Bugatti

For several years now Porsche has had a strong interest in Rimac, the Croatian company that has stood out in recent years as one of the best engineering studies in the world in terms of electric mobility. Just a few moments ago, Porsche announced that it was increasing its stake with the company to 24% paying $ 83 million. In turn, Rimac also calms the issue, clarifying that they continue to be independent and that Bugatti it will not be in your control.

Several months have passed and a constant rumor continues to talk. This rumor tells that Porsche would seek to buy at least the 49% of the shares Rimac to control it and make it part of the Volkswagen Group to take advantage of its technological development for the brands of the German consortium. Part of that purchase would imply that Bugatti would pass into the hands of Rimac, since they have demonstrated the ability to produce cars with more than 1,000 hp and fully electric propulsion, something that would go perfectly with the philosophy of the French brand.

However, from Rimac they affirm that for now although Porsche’s participation in their shares has increased, the Germans still they are not in control of the company. Rimac will remain independent in order to continue collaborating with different brands, since so far some of its clients are Aston Martin, Hyundai, KIA, Porsche and Koenigsegg, among others.

In the same way, they close the doors to have control of Bugatti, although clearly they do not cancel the possibility of working with them when the French decide to make the leap to produce only electric vehicles.

At the moment it is clear to us that Porsche has a great interest in electrification, for now they have at Taycan Y Taycan Cross Available, but soon we will see an electric Macan and surely with the passage of time more products will arrive with that propulsion. Considering what Rimac has achieved with their Rimac One and what they plan to achieve with the Rimac C Two, it is clear to us why so many brands are interested in working with them.
