That’s it, the 2021 ranking of Cities & Villages where it is good to live in France has been revealed! And it is Annecy, Bayonne and Angers which are placed at the top of the list. The 2021 list of Cities & Villages where it is good to live has just been unveiled! The ranking, carried out by the eponymous association created in 2017 and unveiled by our colleagues from the JDD, is the largest ever made in France. To achieve this, the 34,837 municipalities in mainland France were analyzed according to no less than 183 criteria (which high and very high speed digital coverage has joined this year), divided into 8 categories, previously defined by the French via an Opinion Way survey* carried out in October 2020. According to the 1,010 people questioned at the time, it is quality of life (for 76% of respondents), safety (71%) and commerce (45%) that arrive on the podium of the most important factors. important to define a city where life is good. Criteria followed by transport (43%), health (42%), education (33%), solidarity (27%) and, finally, sports and leisure (26%).

The towns and villages of France where life is good in 2021

And, in view of these factors, the compilation of official data ** places Annecy (for the second consecutive year), Bayonne and Angers at the top of the cities and villages where life is good! The large historic metropolises are placed lower in the ranking, Paris arriving only 55th and Marseille 85th. As for villages of less than 2,000 inhabitants, Peltre (57), Guéthary (64) and Epron (14) are elected among the most pleasant in France.

To find out what rank your town or village is in, just enter its name in the free tool of the Cities & Villages association website. By typing, for example, “Les Villards-sur-Thônes” (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) – which is among the most welcoming villages in France according to Airbnb – in the search bar, we obtain the number of its inhabitants (1068) and its position at the national level (15 156/34 837), departmental (256), among the municipalities of 500 to 2000 inhabitants in France ( 6,773) and among those of 500 to 2,000 inhabitants in the department (143). Is your municipality one of the top 500 towns or villages in France, the top 30 towns in your department, or the top 3 towns in your department for each population stratum? So, it may have the chance to receive the very closed label of Cities and Villages of France where it takes good living, awarded to only 3,134 municipalities in France!
